Default timing belt marks

i'm changing my timing belt and i am a little confused with the marks on the cam sprockets. when i have the arrows pointed *perfectly* up, the marks look like the following:

i am assuming that it is more important to have those marks aligned than it is to have the arrows pointed perfectly up, but i'd like a confirmation of that if possible, since the timing is obviously so important.
thankyou!

yes they are more important. you should be able to put a straight edge all the way across both cam gears and have all 4 marks in a line.
