TIMING/ DISTRIBUTOR PROBLEM!!!!! CEL!!!
Perhaps I described it 'wrong' - but it seems we're saying the same thing.
The ignitor is simply the switch that the ECU uses to control charging the primary coil. If the ECU sends +12v to the ignitor (Yel/Grn wire), the 'switch' is closed and the primary coil is charging. When the ECU pulls the Yel/Grn wire to ground, the circuit is open, as you described, and the primary can now discharge into the secondary coil.
So I agree - sorry if I was a tad misleading.

If you want to check trouble codes, set your DMM for continuity check. One lead on ground, other lead stuck into the back of A13 while it's plugged into the ECU. It'll show continuity (beep) when it's trying to turn on the light.
Just in case any other wiring is farbed up, D4 is the service check connector. Shorting that one to ground is the same thing as jumpering the SCC with a paperclip.
