Timing belt problem, gear keeps on jumping one tooth!
Ok, so i am trying to get my timing belt on and aligned properly(adjusted it and not everything was at TDC). tensioner is loosened 1/2 turn and i put belt on exhaust gear then onto intake gear(belt is tight from crank to exh. gear and from gear to gear, but quite loose from int. gear to water pump), both pointing towards tdc and the crank too. then turn the crank ccw about 3 teeth and tighten the tensioner. then i beging to just crank it ccw and in the first revolution the intake gear jumps a tooth so nothing is lined up anymore and the belt is nice and loose.
what do i do?
what do i do?
Loosen the tensioner bolt 1 turn. Turn the engine counterclock wise with the dampner nut. Keep the tension on nut and tighten tensioner bolt. Bill
got it on and nice and tight. used the coathanger hook trick to pull up on tensioner. had to loosen it more than 1/2 turn too. thanks for all the help.
