Timing Belt for b18
I am planning on changing the timing belt myself soon. I have heard that getting the crankshaft pully to loosen up can be difficult. Is this true and does anyone have any advice?
Secondly, I have read that once you have the cam sprockets and the crankshaft aligned correctly and the timing belt on, that tightening the tensioner can cause them to shift. Any advice on this one?
Lastly, anything else that would be helpful to know, please share. Thanks.
***If an answer to my questions exists somewhere else in the forums, then just direct me to the thread.

yes, with the crank pulley you will want to use an impact gun and use the shortest socket you can so you get more torqe, and for the timing belt, you are going to want to take the tension off the belt, align the cam gears first and then turn the crank gear a tooth off the the right, put the belt on and then turn the crank gear back until all the tension is on the left side of the belt, at the time the crank gear sould be right on and there should be no slack on the left side of the belt, then you can just loosen the tensioner and that will pick up the slack on the other side without prying on the tension so all the gears stay in place...hope i have helped you out somewhat.
