Throttle body too big?
Everyone tells me that the bigger the throttle body the better, well ... Is there a limit to how big you go? I will be getting a custom intake manifold made up soon and I was debating on running a 90mm Q45 throttle body on my boosted d16.
I have a fully built forged engine, high flowing vtec d16y8 head and zex 59300 cam, sc50 t3/t4 57 trim, equal length manifold etc etc etc and I am looking for around 400WHP. Its not like its going to cost me alot, should I go ahead and run the Q45 throttle body or should i just hold off and buy a $300.00 68mm STR?
LMK.
thanks alot ... Chris

90mm r u serious..wtf...and ur either gonna go 90 or 68mm what kinda logic are u using?? dude thats almost a third larger than the 68 mm one...can u say rough idle...imo 90mm is ridiculous on a honda dont do it
well i was throwing around the idea, i have a 90mm at home because i was going to use it on my skyline, and i'll have a custom intake manifold made up in a month or so. I usually see people with 62-70mm throttle body's on hondas and was just curious as to seeing what others thought of maximizing the flow
i ran a 62 mm last year (overbored b18b) nad it was alright, but this year i am going to be running 3" charge pipes and a 75mm t-body is equivilant to around 2.95 inches. I will just stick with my 62 I suppose and when I get my intake manifold made up I will try everything from 60 to 80mm and I will make a write up on it.
Thanks alot for the info.
