thinking about getting lower deg thermostat
are most thermostat created equal (physically?)
i'm thinking about getting a lower deg thermostat from the local autoparts. Does anyone know which application i should ask for? I'm looking to get around 160 degree or something. TIA for the help guys.

I bought a 160 degree thermostat from the auto parts store when I did my swap, assuming that I should change it.
When I took out the Honda thermostat it became immediately obvious that the auto parts thermo was a total POS in comparison. I put the Honda one back in and returned the other.

I've got the Spoon thermo, fan switch, and rad cap... it takes FOREVER for my car to warm up when it's chilly. During the warmer months, it helps ALOT when combined with water wetter. Spoon parts are, as we all know, factory Honda parts slightly modified... HTH
i just want my car to run a little cooler, it's just been on my mind lately although i know it will take a little longer to warm up. it's just one of those things on my to do list, you know. never thought about water wetter though, maybe it's time to try some. do we use it like the regular coolant? 50/50 mix or something? sorry, not my area of expertise. thanks

i was thinking should the thermostat open at a lower degree, it will circulate at an earlier temperature hence keeping the motor at a lower operating temp.
thank you for the link

really? then let's do away with the cooling system
no offense intended, but could you provide me with some reading materials to back your belief? thanks

i was recently informed that all water wetter does is add lipid bi-layer to water. could someone back this? i've read the entire water wetter article from redline and it doesn't seem so.
Running an engine cooler decreases its thermal efficiency. Imagine running coolant at absolute zero. The heat in the combustion chamber would get transfered right into the coolant, and there'd be little of it left to do any work.

You guys should probably do some research before assuming I'm wrong and jumping on the bandwagon of mocking me out

yea, you need to run at normal operating temperature for everything to work right, some sensors, don't run right until n.o.t. also, you will get the best gas mileage when at normal oper. temp. i've looked into getting a lower thermostat before but did some research first.
