Default Hetaer core question

I have been having overheating issues so I replaced the water pump the radiator and the thermostat. Now the fan only seems to click on sometimes. So I think I have a faulty fan switch. But on top of that I think the heater core is bad. Was driving up a hill yesterday and I heard the sound of running water behind the dash(1st time I have heard it). And now my wife tells me she has been having to fill up the resivoir every few days.

Sound like a bad heater core to you?

I called honda and they want $264 for a new one. Then I called a discount auto parts store( Clarks in bellflower CA) and they quoted me $113. Also honda wants $66 for a new fan switch and Clarks quoted me $13 bucks.

Man I tell you when it rains it pours.

Do you physically see any coolant or watter on the floorboard? Do you smell antifreeze coolant? Do you have any leaks you can see? It may not be the fan switch, it could be a loose ground or so.

No wet floor boards and no obvious leaks. Sometimes I do smell antifreeze though. My wife has been adding fluid so thats what is making me think heater core. She filled the reservoir twice in the last week and a half. I will recheck the ground though, not bad advice.

no coolant or water on floor board, then its not the heater core.

It could be burning it, leaking through the headgasket.
