Default Thermostat question

Could a bad thermostat and bad thermostat switch cause my D16 to act funny. My car now starts and idle at 2000rpms and drive a little and it lowers to 1000rpms. ( its cool outside) But when it is warm outside their is no idle porblems, it may rev a little in neutral.

Also I was trying to bleed my coolant system when I cleaned IAC. I had my rad. cap off (car was still cold)waiting for my thermostat to open but it never opened. Is that normal?

#1. Do NOT remove your thermostat.

#2. Air bubbles in the coolant system can mess with your idle.

#3. Rebleed your coolant system. On my D16Y7, its pretty simple: Turn the heater controls to full hot, but keep the fan off. While the engine is cool, take off the radiator cap, start the engine and make sure the radiator is topped off with coolant. Just let it idle for awhile, topping off the coolant level as needed, till the cooling fan kicks on once.

ghost1 is right about not needing a thermo
but it doesn't sound like your problem is with your thermo anyway, what else have you done to your car that might make it act weird

another option for the thermo instead of removing it is to drill a couple little holes in it so that some coolant is always flowing but not as much

It all happened when I set my timing to stock and touch the idle screw. But I turn it a little a hair and that is when the troble happened
