Default Thermostat problems?

I was just sitting the the parking lot at school and I noticed that my engine sounded slightly different. I checked the temp gauge and it was just fine. But when I turned the engine off and got out of the car, I heard the sound of water sizzling. I popped the hood and saw nothing. Got down on the ground and I saw a TON of water on the ground and it was dripping from the cat. I didnt know at the time what the problem could be but my buddy told me its my thermostat.

About 6 or 7 months ago I had to replace the thermostat because it went bad. Now, I have to change it again. That doesnt sound right to me so does anyone know why my thermostat is going bad so fast? and also, from what I described above, does it sound like its the thermostat even? That'd be good to know for sure.

Anyone?

I put about a liter and a half into the radiator and drove it about 20 mins and when I got back home, I let the engine sit with a fan on it till it was cool and when I checked it, the radiator was still full ... Why did it leak so suddenly and then stop leaking?

well no one could have been Fing with me because I was in the car the whole time and the sizzling wasnt coming from the muffler. It was coming from where my exhaust goes from 2 pipes to 1. Because I have a DC sports 4-2-1 header. So where the 2 meets the 1, its dripping there and sizzling so technically, if the intake manifold was off, you could see it by just looking down on the engine. Thats where its coming from.

And when I checked the radiator after I noticed the sizzling, it took 1 and a half liters of water so it was LOW. And luckily, it didnt overheat. And Like I said, after I filled up the radiator I drove it about 20 mins and it didnt overheat and after I let the engine cool, there was no radiator fluid missing. So it seemed to be fine. I drove it to work this morning and theres no signs of dripping. =/

When my GSR waterpump began leaking, it would occasionally burp out a nice puddle. Maybe 3 or 4 ounces, usually during cooldown after turning off the engine. Strange thing, it didn't leak when running, I never could understand why. After putting the new pump in, I looked carefully at the old one, it looked perfect.

Also, it leaks down the outside of the timing cover, to the oil pan gasket. Maybe yours is flowing around the lip of the oil pan & dripping down onto the exhaust?

nope. I have a brand new water pump on the engine. not even a month old I dont think. And when it was dripping before I replaced the water pump, it was dripping from a different area. I can tell for sure.
