Yes, a heat gun will remove the tint but leave a residue from the adhesive.. you might wanna try a tar/gum remover for that.. and be careful not to break the rear defroster grids, they break easily but can still be repaired if needed...
alright...... ima try that toomrrow....... any more info would also be appreciated??? any other ways to do it w/o using a heat gun???? let me kno thanx in advanced
i used a dry cleaning tool. this is this best way. its an element that sprays steam you just sit there and warm up a spot pull away and warm up the next spot. comes off like buttah. I can do it for you in orlando for 20 bucks. adhesive is also loosened and wipe away. very clean just a little steam and water dripping.
i really dont know but you could try hair dryier maybe or maybe boiling some water....this is what i was gonna do but i found my steamer.....

My girlfriend and I removed the tint from her 89 Turbo Supra. It was a real pain. Took most of 6 hours throughout Saturday in the 100+ temps of Texas.
We tried the heat gun (One of those 400+ degree hobby guns) but the tint layers had already separated so that was no good to remove both layers.
We then soaked the remaining adhesive in ammonia with a plastic trash bag stuck to it to keep the ammonia from evaporating.
That worked wonders in some areas after doing it 3 times.
Other places it was still a mess.
So we pulled out the razor blades. We gave up on preserving the defroster and just scraped everything off the rear window.
At the top of the window where the factory gradation dots are, the tint adhesive would not come off though. Because the razors would not scrape between the dots.
Goof-Off worked great for finishing up the remaining adhesive on all the windows.
When we were all done the car looked great except for thatt area on top of the rear hatch window.
If you do one thing do this:
REMOVE THE TINT BEFORE IT TURNS PURPLE AND BEGINS TO BUBBLE!
after this point it will be trouble to get it off.
Good luck,
Me

a heat gun and lots of windex- windex breaks down the adhesive. We used to spray the windows down with water and put saran wrap on the inside and let it bake in the sun. This makes it easy to start on the edge- then as you pull it spray with windex and it will come off more- it is a slow process.
uhh..i just found a corner where it started peeling off and i just took it right off in rows...and i have the defogger and radio lines on my back window..and mine is all good..nothin wrong with it
