Ok i have an issue i have not came across before today. I put a new belt and tensioner/spring.

Put all together and used flat screw driver and put tad bit of extra tension on spring (how always done in past), tighten down. Car has a small whine while driving. Ok so belt is to tight. Loose bolt on tensioner and just let it loosen up a bit, and retighten, now has lots of slop.


So then i loosen again add a bit of more tension (less than first time), retighten again but now seems to have small bit of whine still. Not as bad as first go round, but dont like to hear any.



Should i keep F'ing with it or leave small bit of whine to it or leave the slop in it.

How much deflection in the belt?

Well in back side (wp side) i would say roughly 1/8" (only guessing off top of head from what i remember), it pushes in but not a lot(that is at its loosest while going thru full timing cycle by hand turing. Front of belt has about same as back maybe tad less

I would check it against the FSM.

Ok just went and checked again maybe 3/16" of deflection and 45deg of twist to it
