Has anyone tried these bulbs ? The damn things are expensive. Can't see them being THAT much better than Philips Blue Vision bulbs.
ok, i did the silverstar 9005 conversion, took me a total of about 30 minutes max, anyways, i noticed a big difference in the way the light looked, and the light output, i have never seen or used the phillips bulbs, but you cant go wrong with the silverstars.
Those blue tint bulb sucks in the rain and snow. You not gonna see **** if u have them on. Trust me. Get the silverstar and do the 9005 conversion. Hugggggge difference.
I have them on my Civic, and they look awesome compared to the stock lights. I still haven't fully adjusted the height of them but they are working great.

wat do u mean by doing a 9005 conversion? if the housing is already for a 9005 bulb, y would u have to do a conversion?
ok i took pics of my silverstar in my car tonight..
i did the 9005 convertion, 70% brighter..

they're kinda blury, god damn winds in cali

just a suggestion when photographing this comparison, put one bulb in one side and the brighter bulb in the other side of the car and compare them. also, color balance of the light is in most cases subject to the media you are shooting on, as well as the brightness of the shot subject to the shutter/iris of the camera. if they are both in the same frame, regardless of what is done in the camera you will see the difference
otherwise your pics are inconclusive
otherwise your pics are inconclusive
I got mine at schucks for free.. my buddy easily slipped two bulbs in his jacket.. try it yo, its a good deal.. they bright as hell!!!

ill just take another pic with my car besides my friends car, and show the differences.
i just got a sony dscp50 camera, not that much features on it, or nor i dont know how to set it, ill play around with it more. thanx for the sugestions.
osram is the OEM division of sylvania, they've been branching out though. In HID world osram are known for being a yellowing white like an acrua TL, and philips the other major HID manufacturer are know for a nice bluish white, like Audi.
here's a spiel I posted in another place hope it helps some.
9005st comparable to rebased 4300K osram d2r: color? no... output NOT a chance.
here's a spield I posted in another place.
Ok, I've been hearing all the hype and being somewhat of a lighting fanatic I had to go out and get a set. Well I'm disappointed. They aren't "all that". I've gone through so many different light bulbs it's not even funny, I've done polarg, sylvania cool blues, nokya(actic white and arctic purple), PIAA super plasma and Something that I was told translated to super HID(I got them in hong kong no english at all on the packaging), 4300K HID, and so many other including my other cars.
I had nokya artic blue in my high beams for quite some time because they had decent light output and were almost a perfect match for my 4300K which uses rebased osram bulbs which are known for having a tad of yellow in them.I went down to my local kragen and picked up a pair of 9005st silverstars. I can honestly say these aren't that much better than cool blue lamps in terms of color, but they are pretty happy in brightness, although still no match for my 4300K hid. I was going to take the silverstars out and put the nokyas back in, but it was cold as hell and I'm lazy, so just note that nokya arctic blue are almost exactly the same color as my hid with a bit more a blue componenet, and much more dim(sad having your high beams being less potent than low beams).
Next week I should be done with my hella 90mm projector retrofit with philips bulbs which are much whiter and have a strong hue of blue in them, then I'll take some more pics.
For the sake of reference since I couldn't get the white balance and exposure perfect, my HID are almost identical to a TL HID setup, since I'm using reflectors and osram bulbs just like they do.
here's some pics, top pair are 4300k rebased osram HID with OEM fogs which are some of the whitest regular halogens around, I remember when I got the fogs they made my low beams look so yellow it wasn't even funny, bottom pair of pics are HID with silverstars. The pictures are unedited except for size.
Pictures were taken with a nikon coolpix 4500 up against a white tarp in my garage with almost zero ambient light.
auto saturation, auto white balance(red is way oversaturated so below I took some better pics)

-1.5 saturation, flourescent white balance preset, iso 800 sensativity

final thought, the silverstars are pretty bright compared to all of the blue "painted" bulbs I've tried, and much brighter than either set of PIAA I had of which were twice as expensive, but if you are looking for the HID look, then these aren't for you. THey are much more white that stock, but they aren't HID look alikes.

I got them for the H4 bulb (9003) as temp. replacement bulb. Let me tell, atleast in the standard civic h4 housings, these bulbs are DEF. not worth the hype. I could have accomplished the same thing just getting a slightly higher wattage STOCK bulb. The color is the exact same as stock. I mean obviously 5th gen civic headlight housings blow. But with all this hype about the silver stars, yes they probably look great in projectors...but in the civic h4 housings they absolutely BLOW.
Just to make sure I stuck in my completely stock whatever h4 bulbs, 60/65 watt, and guesswhat! THE SAME OUTPUT. Seriously I'll give the silver stars might be a good 5% brighter on a wall, but on the road that accounts to nothing IMO.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE HEADLIGHTS PLEASE! I seriously dont want anyone on this board to have to blow a $42 bucks for no reason on some hyped up headlights. H4 Silverstars =
