Default Switch Wiring

Hey everyone... I just got a quick question. Me and my friend is trying to hook up a switch, just a on off switch which has 3 prongs coming out of it. Can someone confirm that we are hooking this up right? ok... from the switch, 1 wire goes straight to the battery, 1 goes straight to the power wire on the motor, and 1 goes to the ground on the battery. Im pretty sure this is right but when I put in a fuse, it just pops. Thanks for the help! I really appreciate the advice.

Lose the connection back to ground. You don't want that at all.

You're only gonna use 2 of the terminals. Common & one of the others. Which one you pick depends on whether you want it to be normally closed or normally open. In other words you get to decide which way is 'on'.
