hey...

i have a y21 (hydro) and a ys1 (CABLE)...

i want to use 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th from the y21 into the ys1
also i need to use the forks and shafts from the y21 in the ys1....

ALSO

i'm going to use the parts from the ys1 in the y21 (so still have 2 complete trannies)

Is the possible??

I'm having a problem putting the y21 together with the ys1 shafts. forks and gears..
spins nice until bolted down.. snap ring is in right.. just super stiff.. does spin a bit..

I'm not sure what will interchange but did want to put in this suggestion;

Get two different colors of nail polish from your girlfriend (or mom).

Take each transmission apart one at a time. When you have the parts (gears and such) cleaned with carb cleaner, mark them with the paint.

This way if you have problems getting stuff to go together, it's all color coordinated.

Let your friends wonder why you keep fingernail polish in the garage.

but that was not my problem.. i figured it out..

the locking washer at the top of the mainshaft was flipped the wrong way...

both my trannies work good now..
