Swap or install new rings?
Hey guys, just because I've never done it myself (just changing rings), my friend is trying to figure out which would be cheaper. His rings are going out and wants to fix the problem with minimum expense.
I told him for rings, he'll need new rings (~$80), head gasket(~$80), oil pan gasket(~$25)...etc and a lot of time becuase you have to take the head off, oil pan off...etc.
He found a replacement engine for $250. I'm tempted to tell him to just get that engine since it runs fine. It would definately be less time consuming since he'll just plug everything back up and fill 'er up with fluids.
What do you guys think?
