Sudden engine shut off.. (2003 civic)
Hello there i have a 2003 civic with a D16V1 engine which is pretty much a destroked d17a2 for the european market. So lets say i have a D17A2 for this problem.
This happens only during summer warm days. After 10-20 mins of driving
suddenly engine shuts off.If i stop and try emmediately to restart the engine it cranks but after 1 second it dies again. This stops after 5-10 minuts of waiting.
It definetely has to do with temperature.IT never happens during winter or even summer nights.Note the temperature gauge never sees high temp..
The engine has 160.000 miles and the only problem i have is the EGR CEL code.

Re: Sudden engine shut off.. (2003 civic)
Sorry to ask 4 years later but I have exactly the same issue with an eu8 running a d16v1 with almost exactly the same mileage (255000km).
It starts again when I remove the EFI fuse and put it back.
Does the EGR valve replacement or cleaning cleared the CEL and stopped the engine shutting off?
