problem with OBD-I B16...
hey guys,
here's how it started...
engine was running, i accidentally pulled tha upper PCV valve hosing off tha IM. Engine died immediately. i left that hose off and plugged tha hole/port on tha IM. i started tha engine back up, fine, but now tha CEL comes on. i can't check what code it is because i don't have those 2 wires on tha pass-side to jump. i think it was removed or somethin'. anyway, when i start tha engine, cold, in tha mornin', it starts fine. after tha engine has warmed up, in a bout 5 min, tha CEL will come back on. now, after startin' tha engine when warmed up, it turns over about 5 times (if lucky enough) before runnin'.
i appreciate any feedback on this. just, what do you think has most likely happened; what's most common.
thanks,
_taF

that was certainly done. it made no difference.
again, tha CEL turns on only after tha engine has warmed up in about 5 minutes. it starts fine before tha CEL (when cold), but has problems firin' up after CEL (when warm). also, is there any other way to check for what code tha CEL is givin' if that one harness plug (2-wire) ain't there?
(by tha way, i'm lookin' for an OBD-I B16 IM with all tha compents still on it: IAC, IAT, TB w/TPS & FIT, EGR.)
i'd like to add: that after VTEC engages, there's a loud rattlin' sound comin' from tha bottom side of tha engine. nothin' is loose (visually) outside tha engine. i can gun it anywhere before VTEC w/o hearin' that rattlin' sound, but even drivin' calmly after VTEC, that rattle is really loud -- kind of scary.
i appreciate your guys' input.
