Default stroking a b16a

i wanna replace my crank and rods with itr parts and was wondering if it would work people say no because the b16a is 7mm shorter than the b18c block but a itr crank strokes at 87.2mm and a stroker kit from toda strokes at 87.2 the same so why would a itr crank not work i ask???
someone help before i buy things that wont work please
alex

Well you can't since you have a B16 block.
B18C and B16B crank+ rod journals are smaller in width when compared to a B16/B17 crank/rod journals.
It's not a good idea to stoke a B16A to 1.8L using a 1.8L crank anyways - you'll kill the rod ratio and your cylinder walls over a period of short time even if you were able to make it work.

If you really want to get your B16 close to 1.8L you have these options:

1. go with some expensive-*** aftermarket stroker kit.

2. (a cheaper route) find a B17A crank and rods, and go over-oversized pistons in your B16A block. That will definitely get you near 1.8L, if not over.

3. (cheapest) purchase a set of over-oversized pistons for your b16 engine and get those installed - maybe even consider resleeving your block. That will get you near 1.8L without killing your rod ratio.

#3 was the technique Honda used on the B20/CRV engine. They took a B18B/LS block, and slapped in some wider pistons - left the crank and rods alone - which bumped up the Liters to 2.0. However. one thing they did change, was the cylinder wall thickness - they made the walls thicker so the block could handle a wider piston. So you might wanna

ok i dont understand u said get a expensive stroker kit but if the stroke is the same on a kit as an itr crank then what is the difference????
like i said toda 87.2 and itr 87.2 and what do u mean destroy my walls how???
and destroy my rod ratio?? what does that matter??

ahh.. I didnt notice that you were a newbie

If you dont know about rod ratio & what bad rod ratio does to the cylinder walls there's too much info to list...

I'm a mechanic and I've never heard of what this does to cylinder walls.... my garage foremen who has been a mechanic for 25 years never told me anything about this and he said that changing stoke itr crank would have no bad effects on my block...Please fill me in on this damaging rod ratio....at least a bit of the basics

well there's a diffrence from mechanic to knowing high performance engines. a good place to start learning would be http://www.theoldone.com.

really quick rod/stroke ratio basicly dictates how high you can rev your motor as high revs increases the side loading on the cylinder walls and after the cylinder gets over loaded your piston is sticking out the side of your block.
