Stroke the motor to 81.7mm w/ the B17 crank and bore it to 86mm with GEs zilla sleeves. You'll end up around 1.9l and you can still rev it as it'll still have a good r/s ratio of 1.62:1. Stroking the b16 much more than that takes away from what makes the B16 special to begin with, it's near perfect geometry.

"near perfect *geometry*" but still too small of a displacement...i just noticed that i think i may have a problem with the B16...

What do you mean "too small of a displacement"? An 86mm B17 would be 1891cc. That's almost 60cc more than the overhyped LS/Vtec frankenmotor and far more reliable, and since it's all factory Vtec there are no oil lines "taped" on to fail or just look ugly. Depending on cams, redline, breathing, and the all important tuning I bet you could get that motor near 200WHP. I'd take that motor over either of the popular frankenstien setups.

he's probably referring to the "torqueless wonder" a B16A is because of the 1600cc stroke..

Yeah but after you make the B16's 77mm crank into a paper weight the B16 is not so bad anymore. A B18C would still be preferable IMO, but naturally costs more too.

Sure seem to be alot of questions surrounding this "obvious" topic.

There's nothing crappy about the B16, cept perhaps the crank.

instead of stroking the b16 why don't you just have it bored out to 1.8L and then you keep that nice r/s ratio. That's what I'd love to do to my b16.

what is the r/s ratio?
1.62:1 w/ the B17 crank. They're not all that hard to find, and they're worth the effort if you're determined to stick with the B16. Remember the B17 crank in the B16 also gives you a .5 boost in static compression. It's a good deal.
