Default Strange Oil Pressure Issues

Hey all,

First post, but this forum has always come in handy. I just cant find what I need.
Heres the deal, hopefully someone may be able to help!

500 miles on this build
D16Z6 Heads, comp 59300 cam , valves, springs, retainers.
D16y8 Block, Vitara build, stock crank, ACL bearings, new oil pump
I can provide more information on request. The engine was assembled by my machinist.

When I start the car, right up to 80+PSI...as it warms up the oil pressure naturally drops. but here is where the weird stuff happens.

-The oil pressure will not increase with RPM, it just drops with temp as time goes on until its under 40 PSI at any RPM level.

-I've already tried switching to a smaller genuine Mugen oil filter and switching from 5w30 to 10w40 which made a slight change but again falls flat when at operating temperature.

-I do not think my gauge is bad because on start up the oil pressure will in fact increase with throttle response. Im inclined to believe its not a leak or the 80psi start up likely wouldn't hold up.

-Of course this engine is turbocharged, right now with just a smaller 15g greddy set up.

-I also do have a few oil pan dents that could be considered somewhat substantial, I dont mind replacing the pan as it may be dented near the take up but I'd like to rule out all smaller issues first.

-I've had code 22 in the past, now the car wont hit beyond 6500 (which im not testing frequently due to the low pressure) I tuned the car myself on Crome, so I could answer more technical questions there too.

Any help would be highly appreciated, its a bit frustrating, Thank you for your time and patience.

Was the problem solved? I just boosted my y8 build and along with that installed a mechanical oil pressure guage, cold start is over 80psi is that just normal? when it warms up it goes to 40 psi as well

yes that is completely normal. my car goes to 80 at cold start and drops to 23 at hot idle and it's in perfect health. all 5 of my motors have done it identically.

as for the original post, it sounds to me like the relief valve in the oil pump is stuck or not operating correctly. or the seal between the pickup tube and oil pump is leaking and sucking air. or both.
