strange hesitation/bogging at partial throttle
About 2 months ago...my car did this for the first time. It was very strange because it was all of a sudden just bogging and choking at partial throttle. It would go away if I went WOT. It happened in every gear. I was almost ready to pull over when it just went away completely and never happened again until yesterday. It is very odd because I can drive 50 miles without a hitch and then all of a sudden...it will bog out until I go WOT. It seems like it happens when I drive the car, let it idle for a few minutes, and then try to go...but it also happens sometimes when I'm just cruising normally. The car idles fine and it runs normally, I have all power at WOT and VTEC is engaging correctly.
Basically when it does this it feels as though I just completely let off the throttle as if I were coming to a stop.
Plugs and wires are newer and look fine. The cat is new, the o2 sensor is working fine because I tested it in my hatch and it works great. I'm going to change the oil tonight even though I'm sure it's not the problem. I'm getting no CELs.

anybody???
It ran like crap on my way to work. Then on the 60 mile trip back home, it didn't hesitate at all, not once. I am stumped. I changed the oil and it still did it.
Here's a pic of the plug...they all look like this and my old plugs look exactly like this as well. Plug wires are about 3 months old, no more than 10k miles on them.
I'm still getting 32mpg...the motor is a b16a2 in a 96 EX coupe.

A bad TP sensor can cause this problem - Check your TP out singal voltage it should be .49v with TP closed. Also, A failing fuel pump can do the same thing if you have voltmeter and a amp prode(10amp) you test fuel amperage draw.
And, A failing coil or ignitor can do it also.
I hope this helps!

You can test the TP performance. It should have 5v referrence and .01v at the side. The input volt with KOEO(key on engine off) should be .49v(throttle closed).
You can also do TP sweep to make the volt raises smooth all the way to wot.
Check pin fits and connector connections.

I'm going to get a multimeter tomorrow and check the TPS and also check the plug wires and grounds for any loose connections. It also only happens when my car has warmed up. If I go wot when it hesitates, it jerks forward very hard and drives normal. I ran some fuel injector cleaner through it and it seemed to help but then it came back again. Here's another detail; it seems like it happens a lot when I drive it for 20-30 miles at constant speed and then stop and try and go again.
What I don't understand is how it can happen 1 time, go away for 2 months or 6K miles, and then just come back again.

I would also have to agree. That is a typical symptom if either of these aren't functioning properly.

Well...I unplugged the o2 sensor we'll see if it happens on my way to work. I have a feeling one of the connections came loose from when I extended it for the swap or it's bad. It idles much better without the o2 hooked up so maybe that's the problem.
