strange gsr idle issues
this is a relatively new rebuilt motor (b18c1) with about 15k on the clock on a 94 GSR
car has AEM SRI and DC headers... however it is NOT the intake that is the issue.
developed a somewhat high idle, around 1.6-1.7k so i decided to clean out my IACV to see if that would work. pulled the iacv, it was dirty, so i cleaned it and put it back. NOW, my car has a roaming idle between 1-2k, and emits a high pitch sound from the engine somewhere. the screech is too loud to exactly pinpoint where the sound is coming from..
i have also cleaned out my FITV, and tightened the idle screw.. to no avail
also, car gets a check engine light that comes and goes.. usually comes up when car gets up to temp. car runs/pulls fine, but check engine light is worrisome nonetheless

any ideas/suggestions? your help is greatly appreciated =]

Warm the car up and take off the intake tube. Plug the IACV hole and see how that affects idle and the noise. Try disconnecting the IACV as well and post what happens. Check your coolant system. Post if coolant is low or if there is any obvious air in the system. Try to pull the CEL. That will help pinpoint the problem and save you alot of trial and error testing. You may also try putting on a set of noise reducing earmuffs and then try to locate the source of the sound under the hood.
planning on running the iacv/fitv test, as well as try and pull the CEL when i get back.
i bled the air out of the coolant system earlier today as well.
while driving, the whistle comes every time i come OFF the the gas... and goes away when start letting on the gas again..

You have a vacuum leak. The car should have stalled when you plugged the IACV hole. Start pinching vacuum hoses closed and checking gaskets until you find the leak. If pinching the PCV valve hose helps then the PCV valve should be replaced. You can use starting fluid to look for the leak. Spraying starting fluid on a vacuum leak will sometimes cause the motor to rev.
got everything fixed!
vacuum leak was a torn IMG. replaced it and everything is gravy =D
check engine cleared by new knock sensor. old one was dead =T
