stop the confusion!!!
ok, i've been to a total of 6 professioinal muffler/exhaust places in the area trying to resolve this issue. i've also referenced maybe 3 boards such as this and i still can't seem to get a clear and more importantly, CONSISTENT, answer. among the 6 that i went to, 3 told me that you won't lose any power if the diameter of your exhaust piping is bigger. and the other 3 told me i MAY lose some, not a lot.
here's my story. i have the black widow rear on my ride, with two exhaust outlets. i definately want to balance the look. adding another muffler will take care of that easily. whether or not i should make the second muffler operational is what i'm trying to figure out. coz i don't want to lose any power, but don't wanna risk wasting any money testing this whole theory, coz i just don't have any money to waste on things like this.
the answers i'm getting at the other boards i'm a member at seem to be consistent with what the professionals tell me, which is two different things. some say i WILL lose power, while others say there's negligible power loss, if any at all. no one has said i will gain power but i'm goin for more looks while not losing power at the same time. i think it's rice to put two mufflers on a car and have only one working. ****, i think putting a "dual" exhaust on a 4 cylinder is rice enough but you have to admit with my bumper, it'll make my car look real good. i mean in the winter time you'll easily tell whether or not both mufflers are functional. i don't want that. so the best case scenario is both are operational and i loose no power. and that's the least i'll settle for
sorry for the long post. but i hope you can help me resolve this dilemma.

no matter what body kit you have, it is still rice (and not to mention goofy/ugly/dumb) to have two mufflers sticking out of the back of a honda that didnt come that way from the factory. If your on boost, and your that worried about backpressure just get one larger pipe instead of two, you the look to laugh ratio will be less if you do that.
even though some may think it is rice, i would rather have two mufflers rather than one ghetto looking rear bumper. might as well hook it up if you're s/c'd
