Default Help removing crank

Im getting ready to ship out my block to golden eagle to have it resleeved. Everything on the block has been removed the pistons, rods ect. But I am having trouble pulling out the crank. The crank is ready to be pulled out, except that the gear on the end is still on. I need to take this gear off so I can lift up the crank, the gear I am talking about has that little "key" on it ont the end of the crank. I looked through my Helms and it doesnt say how to remove it. Since it has the "key" I figure I just pull it out like my cam gears but it seems stuck. I've tried to pry it out but it wont budge. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can pull it out?

ummm, then only thing that i would suggest is getting a wheel puller (most commonly used as "steering wheel" claws) they have different sizes for that, check 'em out and see what one best fits

sounds like u might just have to get a key that fits it, or find something that will turn it w/o turning the whole thing. btw, the bolt in there is backwards to a regular bolt so it would turn counter-clockwise to get it off

Thanks alot i'll try that, someone also suggest I get a "gear puller" cuz sometimes the gears get stuck pretty good that prob the same thing you mentioned I use. The little things are always the hardest!!

Hey man, all you need to do is rent a Ford F350 Dooley and buy a chain. Chain the motor on a tree and chain the crank pulley to the Dooley. Put that thing in drive and your done. heheheheh, like hybrid dream said. "Don't you know anything noob?
