Default stock shocks

How do your stock shocks blow out? I hear people say that the spring rate of their new springs effect the shocks, how?

A stiffer spring can store more energy in a shorter distance of compression. Take for example two springs, one has a rate of 100lb/in the other 400lb/in. On the first, for every 100lb you exert, it will compress 1inch. You need 400lb to compress the second spring 1in. Those springs will releast 100lb and 400lb (respectively) as it decompresses that 1in distance.

Stock damper cannot control this higher amount of energy. The oil is pushed through the orfices in the damper too fast when the spring rate is higher. Eventually, something has to blow. Usually it's a seal that was only designed to contain a certain amount of pressure.
