Why do stock shocks blow out if you put lowering springs on?
Just wondering what the mechanical answer to this would be. And would it be that bad to ride s-techs on stock shocks? For a little while? Like 2 months? It would only be for daily driving.

Lowering springs have slightly higher spring rates than your stock springs. This is because if they had the same spring rates they would have the same compression characteristics as stock and would bottom out. Stock shocks are not valved correctly to be able to absorb that kind of tension/stresses. They will last a little while, but not long.
With that being said, I drove S-techs for about 12,000 miles before replacing my struts on my 2000 Civic Si.

So since the tein s-techs have a relatively low spring rate for a lowering spring, they would be most likely the best for stock shocks?

^ Ya I keep hearing people say that they are made for stock struts. But just because they are made for them it doens't mean they will last too long necessarily.

the spring rates on the Stechs are fine for stock struts but take two inches of travel out without increased rate and its bad for your inner fenders i know i had em on tokicko blues and poked holes in the inner fender on my integra with the UCAs off came that **** and on went the OMNI Sports

Yeah i have gone on a couple other websites that sell these springs, and some said that Tein designed them to work with stock and aftermarket shocks. Eh. I will most likely put them on anyways. Quick question. In the instructions it tells you how to cut the bump stops. If i were getting aftermarket shocks would it matter if i cut them or not? Basically, are those instructions only applied to stock shocks? Thanks for the help!

O I C. Maybe i'll leave it alone for a couple weeks. If it feels good i'll leave it alone. If not i'll cut them. Thanks for the advice! I'm such a newbie when it comes to suspension. I will be taking out my stock springs and dropping in those s-techs tomorrow. Any tips?
