Default step deck machining

i was just told about step deck machining and was wondering what exactally it means? i just got my h22 block back from rs machine. and the sleeves are out a little bit farther than the actual deck height. i know thet they are like that for a reason. i was just wondering what height i should have it decked to? check sig for info about setup. thanks in advance!

its when the sleeves are higher than the rest of the deck surface by a few thousanths to help the head gasket seal better. I dont know the specs you'd have to talk to someone who sleeves engines

benson doesn't do the step deck option anymore. due to the fact that it doesn't seal well

the gist of it is that the sleeves are machined very little bit taller than the rest of the block so when the head is on the sleeves are slightly slightly pressed up into the head, supposed to seal it better, however i really dont feel this is needed.

you have to replace the o-rings if u pull it apart. granted it is only copper wire. you dont have to replace the stepped deck

i dont see why you want to step deck or o ring the block, its not needed, its not a must.

IMO its more trouble than its worth
