Starting Problems
I have a 91 CRX with a B16 swap that won't start. When I turn the key nothing happens. Not even clicking from the starter. The lights on my instrument panel and my radio come on and stuff so I know the battery is fine. The starter and batt. are practically brand new so it's not either one of those. Also it push starts perfectly fine so I know the motor isn't shot. I drove it to a local mechanic shop to have it diagnosed and they said that there is no ground from the engine to the block or something and that the positive post of my battery was arching and touching something which posed a hazard. So they wanted $150 to get it grounded and they said that's a good start. But I have a feeling its the main relay cuz when I turn the key nothing happens at all I dont hear clicks or anything. It was starting fine for the longest time and then it just stopped. Any suggestions? Am i being taken with the whole grounding thing?
Check your 12v solenoid wire from your ignition sw. Mine I guess was loose and fell off while I was cleaning around the starter. Check this first.
If it is a ground $150 is too much for an easy fix. Just follow your ground wire from the battery down to the chassis and to the bracket on the tranny.
I don't know what short he was talking about but I will tell you alot more would be wrong if it was a short. Please keep everything metal away from the positive terminal on the battery, like an CAI or even the battery hold down.
That will be twenty bucks.
Kidding of course
