Starter problems??
I try to start my car and it does nothing, no trying to kick over, nothing, doesnt make a sound. I keep turning the key and eventually usually after 10 or so turns of the key and letting it sit for a minute it starts right up. I originally thought it was the starter and was told when this happens just give the starter a couple wacks with the bottom of a hammer and it will work, so I tried that and it didnt work. Any other suggestions as to what the problem could be? The engine is a freshly rebuilt ls and runs great once started, just doesnt seem to want to start for some reason.
You need to find where the problem is, so start at the starter motor by doing a "by-pass jump", using a jumper lead, [12ga min.] connect one end to the batt. pos.(+) and touch the other end to starter solenoid input terminal, [smaller of two leads on starter motor, it can be unplugged].
Make sure car is not in gear, as engine will crank even if ign. is not on or car is in gear.
If engine cranks when you do a by-pass jump, the problem is not the starter motor or solenoid.
Need to know MM&Y of car and if it is a standard or automatic for more troubleshooting. 94

Took it to advance and had them test the starter and battery, turned out the starter wasnt getting any amperage . . . Now does that mean the starter is bad or theres a leak somewhere in the current flow?

How did advance determine the starter was not getting "any amperage"?
Or did they just find there was nothing wrong with the starter?
As I said, you need to find where the problem is, that can not be done by pulling starter and taking it to someone to test, [unless the problem was the starter] and that you could have found out by doing a bypass jump.
Still need the MM&Y of car and if it is auto or manual transmission. 94
