Default starter problem

A couple weeks ago my car(2005 si type-s swap) died on me. i couldnt get a jump so somebody help me give a push start. when i got home i tried to give it a jump and nothing...i figured it was the starter since it was making this grinding sound so a friend of mines gave me one that he had laying around and it started up fine after a day of driving i got home and it wouldnt start back up again. i went and got the starter tested and it had trouble turning over. so i just got a new one and it still wont start up. I tested the battery, grounds and all fuses and everything seems good a friend of mines thinks it could be my ignition switch/wire and others think it could be clutch interlock switch. Does anybody have a different view?

If the problem is not cranking, as apposed to not starting, try a "bypass jump", using a jumper wire, [10ga min] connect one end to batt. pos.(+) and touch the other end to the starter motor solenoid input, MAKE SURE car is not in gear and hand brake is set, engine will crank even if ign. switch is off and car is in gear, clutch does not need to be stepped on. 94

Its more like not cranking, when i turn the key it makes this loud click sound but thats it like the starter is stuck. Ill try the "bypass jump" to see what happens. thanks for the help.

The "loud click" is either the starter relay, [under dash inside the car] or the starter solenoid, [on starter motor], if it is the solenoid that the click is coming from then the same thing will happen when you do the bypass jump.

If so, the things I would check are the power connections at the batt.. [batt. post] and the one on the starter motor, but even more importent is the batt. to chassis/chassis to engine ground. 94
