Default Starting problems... PLEASE HELP

my brothers prelude is having starting problems. it is a 1995 prelude vtec 5 speed.
occassionally it will just do nothing at all when you turn the key to start the car. it has power (radio, lights, etc come on) and the battery is pretty new.
i bi-passed the clutch switch to test if that was the issue and its not.
we pushed started the car and it started and ran fine.
so i figured it was the starter. the next time it didnt start i told my brother to tap the started with something. after tapping the starter it would start every time.

so its the starter right?

the thing is that we replaced the starter and it is still doing the same thing.

so i thought maybe a ground wire...? so we replaced the main ground wire and still is doing the same thing.
everytime it wont start we tap the starter and it starts fine.

ANY IDEAS?

Faulty ignition switch sounds more like it to me but if you say that tapping the starter does it for you every time then it very well may be starter related. Did you check the relay?
