ok i just had this problem yesterday. i turned the egnition on and i hear this loud crank/scratch noise coming from the starter/engine. sounds exactly like if i already started the car and was still cranking the key to start. what could be the problem? is my starter burnt or messed up? the only reason i can think of what may of happened is that while i was driving on the freeway, my car threw a check engine light because it was running too rich, so i had to pull off on the freeway and turn off and back on my car to kill the check light. hrmmm. please help!

 

Find out what it was? I have the same problem, but I was thinking that it was the ICM/igniter

 

Maybe a tooth busted off the flywheel? Or the starter pinion gear is chewed up?

i think that have that... crank crank crank SHINKKKK vroooooom ....... lol
