I think my starter in the R is going out and I have no money to replace it. Is there anyway I can fix this without spending a lot of money???

Depends on what's really wrong with it, & I can't see it from here... Exactly what's it doing wrong?

Maybe the solenoid just needs to have its contacts cleaned. Just your own labor.

Maybe the brushes are worn down. If you can find replacements, they'll be cheap & you provide the free labor.

Maybe you've got some corroded connections outside the starter? That's even easier.

It makes wierd noises on a cold start then sometimes grinds. I'll try to take some pics after I get it off.

Sounds like maybe the pinion gear (or the ring gear) has some mashed teeth?

Today my starter didn't work. Then my friend told me to tap on the smaller cylinder thing on it a few times and now its acting like it never had the problem b4 right after I bought a starter . Any ideas?

Dust in the solenoid.
Hitting it with a hammer displaces the dust and allows the soldenoid to hit two contacts inside, which sends power to the starter.

If you want you can take the solenoid apart and give it a clean.
