Default SRS flashes when jumping for CEL codes? P28

When I run my car off of my P28 in "P28" mode, it runs fine. But when I flip the switch to "Uberdata" mode, I get a CEL.

When I try the service connection jumper trick, the CEL comes on solid instead of flashing. Instead, while the solid CEL is present, the SRS light flashes me a code 21? What's with that?

Anyone know what makes the SRS flash? Do I actually have an engine code, or is the CEL just indicating the SRS problem?

The SCS connector shorts all the control units in the car to ground, so they all flash any trouble codes they have. So you have a code 21 in your SRS system, and possibly a bad chip, with the solid check engine light.

Code zero (bad ECU) is when you have a CEL while driving, but the CEL doesn't light up with the jumper.

So what does the code mean?

I removed the passenger airbag a while ago which resulted in a constant SRS light while driving. I just installed a new motor and now instead of a constant SRS light, I get the constant CEL.

Oh geez, do a search for "SRS flashes". Seems like no one has ever figured this out.

Thanks for clearing that up then. You'll have to excuse me, none of the ecus I've done have ever gone bad, so I don't have much experience with that.

The SRS has alwyas stayed on because I ripped out the passenger airbag.

First time I saw someone on a forum claiming that was a bad ECU, I thought about how that CEL stays on when I jumper the SCS to set spark timing. So I looked it up in my Helm book.

For the record, it WAS two separate problems.

Solution:
-Uncheck VTP in uberdata - got rid of solid CEL
-Wire 2ohm resistor across passenger airbag socket
-Reset SRS code manually - got rid of SRS light
