squeaking coming from the engine bay.....question
sqeaking noise coming from the engine bay of my civic, i think its coming from either the timing belt or the other pulley belts. they are stock, can i use some WD40 and oil it up to get it not sqeaking? if not, then wut should i do? the car has 61K on it. let me know. THANKS!
dont use wd40 bad!! its not good on belts it has a chemical that actually breaks down rubber and thats not a good idea to spray it around/near your rubber belts, go to a auto store and ask for some belt spray that will fix your prob. if it still happens check pulleys bearings etc!
how do i know if it is tight enough? i am going to get the belt oil, or whatever its called and do that first. i can hear the squeaks a lil when the car is on, and when going forward, a lil as well and ALOT when i reverse. at first i thought that it was the dust disc cover for my rotor, but now i hear it more prominent in the engine bay. The car has 61K on it. when am i suppose to change my timing belt and other belts? if i buy the aem cam gear and pullys and change my belts, will this help it?

It could be the A/C idler pulley, compressor clutch, alternator, P/S pump, or belts. Take a long screwdriver- hold it to your ear and press the tip to different areas until you find where the noise is coming from. You can spray the belts a little to see if they are making the noise- if they are- replace them with HONDA drive belts. Belt dressing is for **** salads!!
