Default Spun Bearings

Hey i will love for u guys to give me an insight on a problem i been having.First off i have an lsvtec turbo setup.Just the other day i was racing it and the boom i spun a bearing.Well the next day i took the car apart and discovered that the number 4 connecting rod bearing was spun. When i analyzed the problem i found that the bearign went bad due to oil starvation. Now i already have a vtec pump on there, but i figured because a week before that i broke the oil feed while racing and all the oil poured out and i know that cause low oil pressure,so i fgured the problem stemmed from that. But anyway,i replaced the bearing, cleaned the pan and installed a new oil filter and fresh oil.The car was good again until 2 days later i went on test the car again and then boom, it happen again and the same number 4 bearing,i replaced the oil pump>My question really is,have any of u guys ever experienced something like this or can gimme any advice on what to look for next or what direction to look at.My guess is that number 4 probably has a restriction in its oil passage, becaise 1 to 3 rods are fine.Well please shed some light on my problem.

check for damage on the crank. If theres damage and you just putting new bearings in, they'll keep spinning.

you might wanna have the crank checked it may be out of round due to the bearing spun and when you put in new bearings its gonna happen again and again. is this a stock crank or was it already turned..

well i did check the crank,it had a lil bit of debris on the journal and i cleaned it off, i mean u feel a slight rough spot, very very slight but i dont think this will wipe of both sides of the bearing. The way in which this bearing spun this time was i believe a lack of oil lubrication condition.I mean i know that the crank journal has to be silky smooth but a lil sratch on the surface should nor cause this condition on the bearings spinning on both ends, plus the bearing dont even feel rough like they rubbing against something.

you might wanna try some 2000 grit wet sand paper to get rid of the scratches but it is up too you, i still think the crank may be out of round due too the bearing spun but what are you running. what bearings are yoou running oem or aftermarket

If you trash a bearing enough that it actually spins then you cannot re-use the crank or whatever is spun in (either a rod or the block, depending on what spun). That is your main problem. You also probably have a ton of metal shavings in your engine. That needs to be taken apart and thouroughly cleaned out. Then get a new crank and rods.

With clearances of .002" or less, if you can feel the rough surface it's too big.

#4 rod and the crank are trash. Replace them and start over.

i had that problem once and I took my motor apart to a machine shop to ground the crankshaft and honed out the cyclinder walls with cleaning then I got new piston rings, main bearings and rod bearings on. Maybe you might want to do that also.
