Rev limiter...noob question please be kind
hey guys im new to the engine building process but have been frequenting on honda tech for a little while. I was wondering with tuning management systems such as chrome or hondata is there a feature where your limited as to the amount of revs produced so you don't over rev your motor while shifting??? for example its set at maybe 9000rpm and if your driving, racing, whatever, and get to 9000rpm without switching gears it just bounces off it until u switch gears......of course no sustained driving at 9k but as a safety feature. sorry if this is a dumb question trying to learn as much as i can. thanks

i haven't had my motor over 5k (still breaking it in) but i have crome and went i sent my ecu in to have it chipped they asked me what i wanted my rev limiter set at. so to answer your question to the best of my knowledge, yes they do have rev limiters that can be set at what you want.
hey bmw626 thanks for the reply, do you have much more time for the break in, id like to know how it turns out for you....im about to build a n/a gsr motor and trying to get all the info i can...
alot of features in crome and similar tuning programs aren't as hard as you would think to use. Why not download crome free and just get a feel for it? I don't expect you to understand fuel or ignition graphs, but as far as your question goes, in crome, the rev limit is simply a box that lets you enter whatever value you want, wether it be 1000 or 10,000. Things like knock sensor, eld, vtec, etc are simply check boxes wether or not you want them used

awesome replys guys very interested in doing my own tuning at some point and am going to download crome free.....how can you learn about ideal fuel and ignition graphs, how can you find out ideal fuel pressure, quantity, mixture and ignition timing....for a given set up, basically what things would you need to know to tune a built motor......im looking for n/a right now because thats what route im going. I was looking at the crome site for a bit and noticed a lot of it is punching in data such as the desired rev limit point, vtec crossover, cams, pistons, compression etc. Im still trying to compile info and find out about engine tuning in general and whats invovled to get things running the right way. Thanks again.
