Icon4 Spontaneous Rod Knocking

Hey everybody,
I'm in some deep shhh...I recently replaced my head gasket in my d16z6 and everything was fine and dandy until I accidently added to much oil to it causing my car to shut off mid-highway doing about 70. I pull over, pull the dipstick (bc my oil light was on before shut off) and there was white smoke coming out of it as soon as I pulled it out. I let it sit and cool. When I turned it on I noticed a knocking noise at about 3500 to 4000 rpms. Me and a friend replaced the rod bearings, the rod is tighter around the crankshaft but it's still knocking,....but at random. It comes and goes. So my question is, what the hell else could it be? The bearings were new. I'm out of ideas. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

did you measure the clearances? or did you just slap the bearings in?
and are you sure its rod knock and not piston slap, or valvetrain noise?

white smoke does not sound good from the dipstick tube. and a fried rod bearing usually wouldnt cause that anyway unless it spun and was grinding away at the crank
