Default Speedometer issues

I need some help... So my speedometer works normal most of the time, but sometimes it jumps to higher speeds than I'm driving, it quickly comes back down, when it does this is makes a clicking noise, it sometimes does this a few times in a row, I've cleaned up the points on the VSS and the throttle position sensor, I'm wondering what else to check, possibly clean up grounds? And if that's a good idea where would I find these grounds

Get another speed sensor from the junkyard. If it does the exact same thing then the problem is the cluster.

Sorry I miss read, but now the speedometer goes to zero for minutes at a time, can this really all be caused by a bad speed sensor? Just wondering cuz I have a lot of money in this car and would like to not spend money on the wrong stuff

lol the speed sensor is what tells the speedometer what to read. Obviously if the speed sensor is bad it will mess up the speedometer. Considering you said you replaced the speedometer on the cluster already and that didn't fix it it can really only be the speed sensor or somehow the wiring it intermittently going open.

Well I was thinking if the sensor was bad then it always wouldn't work correctly, but it just doesn't work right sometimes, I changed the sensor anyways, Ill check if it fixed it once I get my fuel pump changed so I can drive it again
