Default Speedometer gear removal ?.

I tried searching and didnt come up with anything. Im trying to get my speedo gear off my y1 diff and i took it to 4 machine shops and no body wanted to give it a try because they thought they would break it. Whats the best way to remove this? do I have to remove the diff. bearing as well or can I save a step and just remove it over the bearing?

(Come on HT dont fail me now)

The bearing needs to be pulled.

Easiest way, pull the passenger side diff bearing, heat the speedo gear with a blow torch (evenly), then simply slide it off with a pair of pliers. It's not too difficult...

get a gear puller and put a giant bolt into the end of the diff. pull the bearing, then pull the speedo gear. takes about 5 minutes to do. then put the speedo gear in an oven at 350 for 8-10 minutes and put the diff on the counter. take out the gear and it takes only a few taps of a mallet to pop it onto the diff.

Well I just got done doing this and it took like 2 minutes. Cut the bearing off with a cutting torch and heated up the speedo gear and it pretty much just fell off with some pliers. Thanks!
