im trying to replace my third gear set on the mainshaft, but the synchro sleeve is stuck onto the hub, i take it that its pressed it, how would i go about taking the sleeve and hub out, so i can take out the 3rd gear?
also, is the main bearing on the mainshaft supposed to be pressed in? when i opened my tranny up, it wasnt pressed...
thanks

There's an easy trick. Take a 2x4 and drill a large hole in in. Make the hole larger than 2nd gear but smaller than 3rd gear. Then you can drop the mainshaft into the hole and it will stop when 3rd gear hits. Once you properly support the 2x4, you can smack the top of the shaft with a mallet a few times and everything will come apart. Just make sure you catch the mainshaft so it doesn't fall to the floor.

Nope. It slides right off.

thanks for the help!
If I know I'm not going to use the synchro rings again, I just turn it upside-down, hold the gear, and tap the end of the mainshaft on my wooden ramps until it loosens up.
