Icon5 Spec definitiion?

This is the rear toe, alignment spec from my '90 Acura Service Manual.

What does it mean? 2mm toed in, plus or minus 1/2mm
and/or
.080 toed in, plus .04" or minus .08"?

In another part, it seems to say "-" is toed out and "+" is toed in.

This was the original manual for my car. The Japanese never did a great job of translating into English.

Anybody know?

Thanks!

To me, for the metric measurement, the max toe in is 2mm+1mm (so total of 3mm toe in) and the minimum is 2mm-2mm (so total of 0mm toe in). The tolerance they're using is a bilateral tolerance, with +1mm and -2mm. For the measurement values in inches, the max is 0.080"+0.040" (total of 0.120" toe in) and the minimum is 0.080"-0.080" (total of 0" toe in). Anyway, the main thing is that for the metric tolerance, the tolerances are +1mm and -2mm, and not +/- 1/2mm. if you take 25.4mm per inch, you can convert from mm to inches and see that the values are roughly the same. - Jim

I guess I should've put this in the suspension section....

..but it seems like as close to 0, or dead straight as possible?

..or up to 1mm toed-in.

No - I don't believe that that is correct. To me, it appears that the target value for toe in is 2mm (2mm toed in), the maximum is 3mm toe in (2+1), and the minimum is 0mm (2-2). 0mm would be straight ahead. I am guessing that that is the total toe (total of both sides). - Jim

Means the total variance is between 0-3mm max.

In other words 0,1, 2, or 3mm is acceptable,with 2mm being nominal.
