Default spark plug seals

ok so i took my valve cover off to paint it. i put it back on and ran the car for a while than checked the plugs. when i pull the wires i saw that there was some oil on the first spark plug wire, but the rest were clean. so i went and got some new spark plug gaskets from the honda dealer. took the valve cover back off knocked the old ones out with a hammer and a screw driver from the top. than i knocked the new ones in the best i could with the back of a screw. put the cover back on and now i have small leaks in 3 of the 4. i dont know what to do. did i install the new one incorrectly? someone give me some insight, thanks

Why did you use a screwdriver and hammer to get your old ones out?
