Hi,

i got a little (BIG) problem with my fresly build h22.
I got like 5000km on the engine now, and i a few days ago i tryed vtec for the first time with my engine and at that time it was running good and perfect.
But after some driving (200km) i suddenly heard a Ticking in my engine at low rpm's. So i thought it could be my rod bearings, i checked those and they where oke. After taking that conclusion i removed the spark plugs and i saw that spark in cilinder 4 was broken! How could that happen?

The specs of my engine are:

H22A2 with type-s pistons and a compression of 11.8:1
Got everything new, and is milled and i droved it for about 5000km's!

Could it be detonation? lean of rich mixture? what could it be?

And at least, how do i get the tick out of my head? because the piece of the spark is still in my cilinder i think!

 

to get that piece out youre gonna need a little magnetic telescope and some patience...at least it works sometimes...pray to god its somewhere in the middle of the combustion chamber lol...good luck comrade

 

or its blown out of the exhaust side already.

Thats not the only problem, your center electrode has also vaporized.. any detonation? Clogged/stuck injector maybe.

 

Look at the spatter on the porcelain of the center electrode of #4... detonation.

 

yeah I noticed after I already pressed the post button. I'm leaning on a badly/non-functioning injector

 

What I think happened is the center electrode came loose and bounced up and down til the piece came right out. Might have been a defective plug to start with.

 

mabee its the wrong heat range?

 

I'm going to take the engine apart, i had detonation. On cilinder one i have scratches and a lot.. so that's not good.
But i will post if have some more information about it.
