sometimes start works, sometimes doesn't
ok i've been having an intermittent problem for a long time now, my starter on my integra will work, soemtimes i will not.. usually i can go to the starter and wiggle the small wire-that comes from ignition to the starter, and the car will start. sometimes it takes a few trys.
i will push in the clutch, turn the key and nothing, silence, and i might try 3-4 times then, crank!.. and i know its not my NSS because i can turn the key on and pump the clutch and here the relay clicking nicely.
Ok so i popped the hood, checked the large power wire from battery positive to starter and its a good connection, 12.6 v at starter, so i put the multimeter on windshield and ran leads under hood, negative lead to battery neg and hot lead to the small wire on starter, when i turn it to the start position i'm getting between 7.8-8.3v continous, but not start, i can bump it a few times and it will eventually start.. in the mean time i'm going to clean the starter incase there is buildup hendering the starter causing voltage drop.. but if anyone else has an idea as to what it can be, go for it..

Do a bypass jump, use a jumper wire, [12ga] connect one end to batt. (+) and touch the other end to the starter solenoid "trigger" terminal, [unplug the small wire and touch jumper to terminal.
WARNING... MAKE SURE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR engine will crank even if ign. is off, no one steps on the clutch or car is in gear.
If engine cranks every time you touch the jumper to the solenoid terminal, replace the starter relay, [contacts are burnt] if starting is still intermittent, replace the starter solenoid. 94

ok well i pulled the starter off, got some electrical contact cleaner and cleaned/scraped the contacts which were filthy, reassembled starter, reinstalled, cranked right up..
