some sort of knocking on d16y8?
possibly caused bearing damage and or spun a bearing.. worst case , may as well get a spare block ready cause its cheaper than fixing the old one if u did.. does the knock get louder as u rev it
I would put $100 on it.
I can't tell you how many y8 blocks I've had or got for free from friends because they had rod bearing issues. I really think the oil pump is inferior. I built a y8 bottom end a while back and I went as far as to put the z6 oil pan, pump, and pickup on it because I felt I was cursed. The y8 dipstick is in the pan, so when you do this you won't have a dipstick anymore, but I'd rather have no dipstick than a y8 oil pump.
A bad bearing may make no noise at idle and upper rpms, it's a clack clack clack sound right about 2-3k rpm.
