Default y8 oil pick up in d15b

So I doing a mini me swap. Bought a brand new oil pump from a guy on here. He just said it is a d series pump and their ask the same. I get it and its a y8 oil pump. Thinking bout keeping it. Grabbed an oil pick up at the junkyard and height wise it's a little different. It will be sitting slightly lower in the pan but would that make a difference? Pictures coming later

well, I'm not sure which D series oil pans will interchange with your motor, but if you HAVE to use the y8 oil pick-up, you are going to need to run the y8 oil pan.. IF it'll bolt up.

Why not just use your old pick-up and pan.?

you have 2 options. Go back to the yard and get the Y8 pan and see if it fits your block. If it does, use the y8 pick-up and pan.

OR if the pan doesn't fit, you will have to get another b1 oil pump and use your old pick-up and pan.

You're going to run into issues with a Y7/Y8 pump on an older block. It's going to have a hole in it for a dipstick you'll need to plug. I think the bolt pattern is the same otherwise though. They all have the same guts so you can always swap the new pump gears and relief spring over to the old housing if you wanted to.

yea I read that the oil pan would need one or two holes drilled bigger to fit, and cut one stud. which is my decision not to go with this. basically im going to have to sell this brand new Honda y8 oil pump and get a new one.

but thanks for your help guys.

So quick question. The oil pump end that connects to the pick up on the y8 is shorter in length compared to the d15b1 and z6 that I have, but the z6 looks identical to the y8. Does that mean I can use the y8 pump, pickup, and use the z6 pan? What I don't get is, why is the oil pan pick up on the d15b1 shorter and also the d15b1 oil pan itself deeper? Meaning, the pick up sits way higher on oil level.
