SOHC, DOHC, VTEC-E, VTEC, and I-VTEC...???
i've decided to try to do a presentation on the differences between these. the presentation needs to b about 20 mintues. ne help would b appreciated. so if ne one has knowledge on any of these, please respond. thanx...
If you're focusing on all sorts of valvetrain configurations, you might want to include OHV.
If you're focusing on Honda valvetrain configurations, I guess it isn't really necessary.

HRM. There is a lot to talk about here is my .02 on the Vtec-E.
The E can stand for either economy or efficiency. Incuded on the HX and VX models of pre-2000 and on the EX and HX models of 2001+. The difference between the EX and HX of nowadays is the HX has a "lean burn" ECU while the EX has a performance configuration.
How it works. Just like all vtec the rocker arms are locked together when the VTEC kicks on. However, there is no middle rocker arm or cam lobe. The VTEC-E cam is just a cam with one lobe being high and one being low. During moderate driving the rocker arms follow both cam lobes. Once VTEC-E is engaged, the Rocker arms are locked together on the high cam lobe. and the smaller lobe is skipped. On the HX models from 96-2000 (i don't know about the rest) the rockers are acutally roller rockers (for valvetrain efficiency).

Tryin' to re-read my post and see where I said that.......
Pre 2000 HX and VX = VTEC-E
After 2000 HX and EX = VTEC-E only the HX ECU has a lean burn.
