Smoke...rings or valve seals??
Its a greyish kinda blackish smoke. Motor is stout as hell but it smoke pours at about 6000+ rpm! Im not all knowledgable yet...so i am hoping someone will know...cause i have heard people say both...
I always heard that white meant water vapor, black meant running too rich, and bluish meant oil. Anyway, if you are worried about it I would have a leakdown test run. It would give you the best idea of whats going on in terms of leaks.
Thanx alot for the replies! I was thinking it was rings. Never thought about doing a melt down test. Tell ya the truth i dont know what one is! Same thing as a compression test? Im still learning...
I'm not completely clear on it either, but I'm pretty sure they take the spark plugs out and pump the cylinder with air from a compressor and see whether or not it is sealing up. Then they "listen" at various places to see where air is coming out of. This gives youn a general idea of whats leaking like valves, rings, head gasket, etc. It tells you a percentage like "less than 1% in all four cylinders" which I think would mean that each cylinder is holding 99% or better of the pressure pumped into it This can help to tell how bad the leaks are. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. HTH.
