Smart guys, please help me out
There is a 92 VX that I am wanting to buy- the problem is that it is throwing 3 codes. Which of these codes will put the car in limp mode?
code 4 - crank angle sensor
code 9 - CYP
code 49 - lean air fuel sensor (special vx wideband o2)
The first 2 codes can be fixed with a new distributor correct? I know how to wire it, but will a obd2 b20b dizzy bolt up?
The 02 code requires a special wideband 02- was this specific to the VX or are there any other hondas that use this o2?
Please help me figure this out so I can buy the car with peace of mind

well i dont know how to fix those codes, but if it only take a new o2 sensor from a vx then i think i have one off of my old engine (swapping to type-r
) that i could sell you for cheap im me if you need it

The VX O2 sensor is specific to the VX. I am not sure if any other models have the same type that would work for the VX, but most (if not all) others do not have the necessary sensor. The VX requires an O2 sensor that is basically more accurate or sensitive to the a/f mix, your average Civic DX,EX,CX, etc. does not use the same sensor.

I missed the distributor question completely. I could not tell you for sure if it would fit or not, but I really doubt it. Hopefully someone else can tell you and be 100% sure, but it may be difficult to find someone else that tried to make it fit.
For the first two codes, you will need a new distributor sub assembly, as both of those sensors are in the distributor in an OBD1 engine. If you take the cap off, you will probably see what looks like rust covering everything. The bearing is toast and took the rest of the dist. with it.
I believe the VX has the same dist as the 92-94 Civic Si (SOHC VTEC)
The o2 sensor code doesn't sound like the o2 sesor is bad, sounds like the engine is running too lean......will have to check the manual from work. If it is too lean, it is usually the fuel pressure regulator.

Just don't overpay. If you plan to swap later, the condition of the engine/transmission may not be important to you. (depending on how long you have to wait for the swap, and how much you need reliable transport now.) Good luck.
I hope it is not a code 49, that is not a real code and would mean a new computer. If it is actually code 48 (Linear Air/Fuel Sensor) then you just need a new O2 sensor. And like everyone says, it is specific to the VX. Although these sensors are much cheaper in Canada than in the US ($226 Canadian)
The B20 dizzy wont work. I would buy it, the codes will be easy enough to fix. Sorry about the other night on AIM, my comp died on, wasnt able to get it going untill today. Lemme know if you need ne help on the B20 swap
